Keeping Popular 4WDs Reliable with Routine Servicing and Maintenance It was a busy day in the workshop at Halls Gully Automotive, with a range of popular 4WD vehicles booked in for servicing and maintenance. From Ford Rangers and Toyota LandCruisers to Mitsubishi Tritons and Delicas, our team was focused on helping local drivers stay safe, reliable and ready for work, travel and everyday driving around Ferntree Gully.

The vehicles visiting our workshop included a PY Ford Ranger for an oil and filter change, a PX Ford Ranger for a scheduled service, a Toyota 200 Series LandCruiser for routine maintenance, a Mitsubishi Triton requiring a service and battery replacement, and a Mitsubishi Delica that needed new spark plugs and ignition leads. These vehicles are commonly used for towing, family holidays, off-road adventures and daily commuting, making regular servicing essential to their ongoing performance and reliability. Inspection and Preventative Maintenance As with every vehicle that enters our workshop, the technicians at Halls Gully Automotive carried out comprehensive inspections as part of each service. Routine servicing allows our team to identify wear and tear before it develops into a more serious mechanical issue.

The PY Ford Ranger received an engine oil and filter change to help maintain proper lubrication and protect critical engine components from premature wear. Fresh engine oil plays an important role in reducing friction, controlling engine temperatures and extending engine life.

The PX Ford Ranger and Toyota 200 Series LandCruiser underwent scheduled servicing, which included inspections of the brakes, steering, suspension, tyres, fluid levels and other key safety systems. Regular servicing is particularly important for vehicles that frequently tow heavy loads or travel long distances, as these conditions can place additional stress on mechanical components.

During the Mitsubishi Triton's service, our technicians identified a battery that was nearing the end of its service life. Battery performance naturally declines over time, and a weak battery can lead to starting difficulties, electrical issues and the risk of becoming stranded unexpectedly. The Mitsubishi Delica presented with ignition components that had reached their recommended replacement interval. Worn spark plugs and deteriorated ignition leads can cause poor engine performance, increased fuel consumption, rough idling and misfires if left unattended. Professional Repairs and Servicing Results To restore reliability, the Mitsubishi Triton was fitted with a new battery, ensuring dependable starting performance and consistent electrical system operation. Replacing a failing battery before complete failure helps prevent inconvenient breakdowns and protects sensitive vehicle electronics from voltage fluctuations.

For the Mitsubishi Delica, new spark plugs and plug leads were installed to restore efficient combustion and smooth engine operation. These components are essential for delivering the spark required to ignite the fuel-air mixture inside the engine. Once replaced, the vehicle benefited from improved drivability, smoother acceleration and more efficient fuel usage.

The Ford Ranger oil and filter change, along with the scheduled servicing performed on the PX Ranger and Toyota LandCruiser, ensured all vehicles left the workshop with their maintenance requirements up to date and critical systems thoroughly checked.

Each independently owned Repco Authorised Service workshop offers you an Australian-wide warranty ensuring the goods and services you receive are free from defects in materials and workmanship. This warranty is in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. If something does go wrong or you have a question about our Nationwide Warranty, please get in touch with us here. With over 500 Repco Authorised Service centres Australia wide, there are few places you won't find one of our workshops within easy reach. Warranty Period For services provided by any Repco Authorised Service workshop, the warranty is for a period of 12 months or 20,000kms (whichever comes first) from the date of your invoice. Claims If you need to make a claim under the warranty, please contact the Repco Authorised Service workshop that originally completed the work on your vehicle. The workshop where the work was originally performed will be responsible for responding to and accepting claims. If the original workshop can't help, they may authorise another workshop in the network to assist. Terms and Conditions What does the warranty cover? The Repco Authorised Service workshop will have the option of reperforming, replacing or repairing the good or service if it is or becomes defective during the warranty period, at no additional charge.
a.       Where the good or service is replaced, repaired or reperformed pursuant to this warranty, the replacement good or reperformed service will be subject to the terms of this warranty commencing on the date of the original invoice.
b.       If you request for a good to be repaired, your Repco Authorised Service workshop may choose to replace the good with a refurbished good of the same type. The warranty will cover any reasonable diagnosis or scanning fees conducted by the relevant Repco Authorised Service workshop, if such goods or services are later found to be defective. If the work done on your vehicle involves the supply of services from another service provider nominated by the Repco Authorised Service centre, the warranty offered by such service provider will replace this Nationwide Warranty to the extent of such goods .  The Repco Authorised Service centre will advise you of the terms and conditions of such warranty. The rights and obligations under this warranty remain solely with the original Repco Authorised Service workshop that provided you with the product or service. The benefit of this warranty is personal to you and is not transferable. What does the warranty not cover? This warranty does not cover: normal wear and tear and consumable goods such as globes, wipers, and fluids; loss of any data stored in your vehicle like music or phone numbers; and any incidental loss or damage caused by the defect, such as towing fees, loss of profits, loss of use and loss of goodwill or other loss or damage that cannot reasonably be considered to arise normally. This warranty is void if the defect is a consequence of misuse, neglect, abuse, incorrect operation or improper maintenance of the vehicle, accident, or other use that is not otherwise caused by a Repco Authorised Service workshop. How to submit a warranty claim Step 1: Have your original invoice ready. Step 2: Ensure that you make your claim within the warranty period. Step 3:  Please contact the Repco Authorised Service centre that carried out the relevant repairs or maintenance on your vehicle. Their contact details are on  your original invoice.  Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law The goods and services acquired from a Repco Authorised Service workshop comes with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. For major failures with the service, you are entitled: to cancel your service contract with us; and to a refund for the unused portion, or to compensation for its reduced value. You are also entitled to choose a refund or replacement for major failures with goods. If a failure with the goods or a service does not amount to a major failure, you are entitled to have the failure rectified in a reasonable time. If this is not done, you are entitled to a refund for the goods and to cancel the contract for the service and obtain a refund of any unused portion. You are also entitled to be compensated for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage from a failure in the goods or service.

Halls Gully Automotive in Ferntree Gully is a licensed roadworthy inspection station and we are able to perform roadworthy inspections and repair work required. A roadworthy inspection includes things like checking: Tyres Brakes Suspension Steering Body damage or rust Lights Windscreen Oil leaks Wiper blades Seat belts A roadworthy inspection is not a full vehicle inspection report. Serviceable items and service history is not included in Roadworthy inspections.
